MAY 2020
APRIL 2020...
What's happening...what IS happening?!
All I know for sure = We're in the middle of a global pandemic, and it's National Poetry Month.

I'm currently participating in the 30in30 challenge to write a new poem each day in April, and I'll soon be cataloging them on this page, along with announcements about virtual shows as they arrive. I'm posting poems daily on FB and Insta, so let's be social media buddies if you enjoy those platforms.
I also want to connect with, and support, people who are limiting their social media time or don't use those channels. So, if you'd like to get some poetic content from me delivered direct to your email inbox, I'd be happy to send you my new newsletter. I promise I won't email you with annoying frequency, and I wouldn't know how to sell your information if I wanted to, which of course, I do not ;)

AN INVITATION TO PLAY
Beyond sharing what I'm doing, I'd like to enthusiastically invite you to also participate in the 30in30 National Poetry Month challenge that many writers take on in April. Or to do some part of it -- do a 20/30, a 7/30, a 1/30, whatever works for you. A google will quickly get you to several organizations that provide daily prompts, or you can just do your own thing.

I know poetry isn't everyone's cup of tea to read or create, but in my humble experience, after years of teaching uninterested students and hosting open mics with first time readers, I'm convinced that everyone can benefit from poeting once in awhile. To be freed of the normal confines of verbal communication is to be gifted with an ability to be far more abstract and more accurate at once, to get closer to giving voice to a truth. Poeting is a way to move emotion through the body, to sometimes even achieve something as miraculous as transmuting suffering into beauty. And if ever there were a time, when such an alchemy could serve us all...seems like it might be now. I’d love to hear what’s on your heart...
From the bottom of my art, thank you. Any tip, any donation, of any size, means the world in my lil personal economy right now. Having lost the ability to perform live, and teach workshops in the classroom, I am committed to creating as many new offerings as possible in the digital space while we remain sheltered at home, working together to keep each other safe. Love and Solidarity.
